Support Georgetown’s Jelleff Boys & Girls Club with short-term critical relief to bridge the gap during the rebuild period!

WHY NOW

Jelleff Boys & Girls Club has been serving the Georgetown community for nearly 100 years. Open when schools are closed, we are a nurturing safety net after school, during school breaks, and in the summer through camps.

We face a significant period of disruption during a two-year transition. Beginning this August, the city is going to stop funding Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington while rebuilding the Jelleff Recreation Center. This means that our 150+ Club kids and teens need your help to bridge the gap during the rebuild period. The proposed, two-year budget is $1.75M: $1.2M for programming staff; $300k for field trips and experiential learning; $250k for facility maintenance, security, technology upgrades, and transportation.

JELLEFF BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS BACKGROUND

In 1931, the Jelleff Recreation Center Branch was established. Originally called the Georgetown Boys Club, it consisted of two rooms over a grocery store at 31st and M Streets, NW., Eight years later, with the assistance of the Rotary Club once more, a new home was created a couple of blocks away and with it came a name change, the Georgetown Branch of the Boys Club of Washington. In 1953, the club moved to its present location and was formally named in honor of local businessman Mr. Frank R. Jelleff, President Emeritus of the Boys Club of Washington.

Soon, the DC Government will demolish and rebuild the Jelleff Boys & Girls Club in Georgetown as part of a city-approved renovation project. We need your help to sustain our Georgetown Boys & Girls Clubs programming during the rebuilding process.
