Germantown Nike Store volunteers helping to make holiday cards at the MD/DC Reception

Behind all of the smiles, laughter and hard work of our young people are volunteers and donors who generously give of their time and resources. We thought it appropriate to show our gratitude to them by hosting two Donor & Volunteer Recognition Receptions during the holiday season.
On December 11, 2013 and January 15, 2014 we hosted evenings recognizing our donors and volunteers throughout Washington, D.C., Maryland and Northern Virginia. Our December reception took place at our FBR @ THEARC Branch.  Among our shining guests, we were thrilled to have the Jelleff Recreation Center volunteer team from the Georgetown Nike Store as well as the Prince George’s County Regional Board President, Nycal Townsend in attendance that night. Members of the FBR Branch and our volunteers shared unforgettable moments by making beautiful hand-made holiday cards for the children at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C.
We kicked off the New Year, courtesy of Fairfax County Regional Board Chair Mark Sherwin at The Ritz-Carlton in Tyson’s Corner for the Virginia Donor & Volunteer Reception. Guests included regional board members from Fairfax County, Alexandria and Prince William County. Volunteers and board members mixed and mingled enjoying the opportunity of fellowship with each another. Remarks from our CEO and each of the Regional Board Chairs all included the theme of “connectedness,” appropriately echoing the name of BGCA’s national magazine, Connections. Throughout the year, we learn that connecting with kids, community and each other is what it’s all about.
We look forward to celebrating our donors and volunteers, the heart and soul of BGCGW, again this year!
