As part of our Workforce Readiness program, FBR teens had the opportunity to participate in This Way Onward (previously This Way Ahead) sponsored through a partnership with Gap, Inc. and BGCA. The program provides the next generation of leaders, aged 16-24, with jobs and mentorship designed to develop skills and confidence needed to be successful in the job force.
Working with partner Old Navy at Tanger Outlets National Harbor, our FBR Club held a 4-day intensive Career Launch virtual job training. Members were able to assess their skills and interests while preparing for an interview with the retailer. As a result, two of our teens were hired! All participants received gift cards for taking part in the career fair and FBR Teen Services received a $3,000 grant from BGCA for leading this effort for our young people. It was a great way to engage our teens and provide them with a valuable first-job experience.
It’s all about building self-esteem and great futures!
