On Wednesday, March 6, the FBR@THEARC Club had the pleasure of hosting an interactive STEM session in the Best Buy Teen Tech Center as part of the 2019 International Women’s Day Forum presented by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation. The hands-on working session joined forum attendees each paired with girls for a computer build from a kit. Nearly 30 middle schoolers completed the builds, and each girl walked away with her own computer!

The session was hosted by Best Buy Community Relations Manager Andrea Riehl and Signature Program Specialist Brandi Jorgensen. Marc DeCourcey, Senior Vice President for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation shared his sentiments, “hosting field trips during the International Women’s Day Forum gave attendees such a valuable hands-on experience, and partnering with Best Buy and Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington to build computers for girls in our city was a win-win for all.” BGCGW Chief Development Officer Kimberly Lane participated as a forum attendee and witnessed the lively interaction between the girls and the impressive professional women in attendance.

BGCGW is thankful for the opportunity to host such a program and looks forward to more partnering opportunities with Best Buy and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation.
