GREAT BIG KID 2025

BGCGW’s Great Big Kid (GBK) event, presented by Amazon and Amazon’s Black Employee Network, pairs six adult mentors (“Big Kids”) with Club youth (“Mentees”) to serve as role models providing academic, social, and in-person support during the mentoring period (September-October).

Each mentor is encouraged to share their mentor-mentee experience, and the impact Boys & Girls Clubs is making on our young people with their circle of influence (family, friends, and colleagues). The objective is for each mentor-mentee group to raise funds to provide more opportunities for more youth.

On December 18, 2025, following the mentoring period, a celebratory event (“The Great Big Kid Finale”) is held to recognize our mentor-mentee pairs and award the title of “The Great Big Kid of the Year.”

Investment in this event helps to raise critical funds for Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington while lifting up the incredible potential of our Club youth. The GBK Finale also provides our mentors and mentees participation in a shared life-changing experience!
