Who does college? The teens at Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington do!

The Taco Bell College Tour Team consisting of staff members from Jelleff, Germantown, Richard England clubhouse #14, Manassas, George Ferris Clubhouse #6 and Hylton Clubs accompanied 29 teens down the east coast to Charlotte, NC to visit colleges. The schools included: Johnson C. Smith, Johnson and Wales, UNC at Charlotte and The Art Institute.

The teens participated in information sessions that addressed courses of study, collegiate life, financial aid, extra- curricular activities, creating academic and social balance and time management. They toured the different campuses, ate lunch in the campus cafeterias, spoke with the students and learned about Greek Life. In addition, our teens experienced the impact of giving back with their involvement in a community service project for the residents at Relatives, a youth shelter. Not only did they donate needed items to the shelter, they interacted with the youth, engaging them in discussions about musical artists, school and life circumstances.

This is the 4th year Greater Washington has been awarded the Taco Bell Foundation for Teens grant. To date, we have provided approximately 90 teens with this world class experience.
