The Arts are a key component of our programming. They help our youth expand their academic learning and personal development. Without programs such as the ARTMobile, TAP Camp, and yes, ICON, many of our members would not be able to discover or foster their artistic gifts. The ICON ’13 Gala afforded an opportunity for the five finalists to perform in front of more than 300 of our major donors, Metropolitan and Regional Board Members; visual artists had their work displayed onscreen as well as advance sale of holiday cards designed by these gifted young ICON’s. The ICON Gala also provides scholarship money for those finalists who go on to graduate from high school and advance their education.

Guests of the ICON ’13 Gala bid on silent auction items including overnight stays at the Jefferson Hotel, high- end jewelry and restaurants, and an autographed jersey from  Washington Redskin star Pierre Garcon. Our exciting live auction featured Super Bowl tickets and  the crowd favorite – a Qatar Airways package that brought in more than $6,000!

ICON ’13 was indeed one of our best years! Special thanks to WLG Founder and Chairman, Patty Andringa, Benefit Chairman, Maria Ferris, BGCGW Special Events Director, Terri Johnson and all of the staff and volunteers who made ICON ’13 possible!
